Apply For Membership

Membership Requirements:

You must be 18 years old, have lived in our jurisdiction for 18 months, and have worked 400 hours with us.

Initiation Fee is $1000.  $200 is a non-refundable application fee.

Applications are only taken twice a year   March/ September. Applications must be returned to the office prior to the monthly meeting.  All applications must be accompanied by a check for $200 + 1st Quarter dues payable to IATSE Local 251.  All applications must also have a letter of intent (this is a brief letter describing your skills, or can be used as a introduction).

Applications are read at the March/September meeting.  The letters are included in the minutes. Applicants are invited to the next meeting April/October for a brief interview.  They are generally interviewed in the order their application was received.

A ballot is sent out to all members and counted at the next meeting  May/November. A simple majority wins election. If the vote is negative, the dues portion of the payment is returned to the applicant.  If the vote is positive, the newly elected member must pay the remainder of the Initiation fee before being initiated ($800). Initiation happens at the June/ December meeting.

There are times when initiation may have to take place either at a later meeting or at an e-board meeting due to touring schedules. 

Transfer Cards
Transfer cards are time sensitive.  The transfer applicant is invited to the next meeting for an interview.  If they cannot attend, the card still has to be dealt with. The card is read, and a ballot is mailed.  Transfer pay $800 initiation fee. Fee paid upon initiation.
